Our First Step in Serving the Hampton Roads Community
While our management team may be new to the Red Wing Hampton area, our commitment to quality, service, and community is built on a foundation that’s four generations deep. When our new owner, Bill Gardner, brought his family’s experience from Richmond and Charlottesville to our store at 2040 Coliseum Drive, he also brought a core belief: a local business has a responsibility to support its community.
That’s why we are incredibly proud to share the news of our very first community initiative, an effort that gets right to the heart of what we stand for. We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to your amazing support, we have donated over 1,000 pairs of socks to LINK of Hampton Roads, an outstanding local nonprofit dedicated to supporting our veterans and neighbors in need.
A Simple Way to Give Back, Together
The idea behind this donation was straightforward but meaningful: for every pair of Red Wing boots purchased right here in our Hampton store, we pledged to donate a brand new pair of socks. For anyone who spends their day on their feet, especially those facing the challenges of homelessness, a clean, durable pair of socks is essential for health and basic comfort.
As our owner, Bill Gardner, put it, “My team and my family are proud to bring our generations of experience with work boots and specifically Red Wing Shoes in Richmond and Charlottesville here to the Hampton Roads community. Giving to local veterans in need is something we are passionate about.”
This initiative was a simple way for us to partner with you, our customers. You invested in your feet, and in doing so, you allowed us to invest in the well-being of our veterans and community members.
A Partnership to Support Our Neighbors
Choosing LINK of Hampton Roads as our partner was an easy decision. Since 1990, their dedicated team has provided critical services and outreach, helping individuals and families, including many veterans, break the cycle of poverty right here in our community.
On Wednesday, September 22nd, we had the honor of officially presenting the donation at LINK’s location on Thimble Shoals Boulevard. It was a privilege to be joined by Hampton Councilmen Robert “Rob” Coleman and Cleon Long, who graciously took the time to support this partnership. Seeing local business, nonprofit, and civic leaders come together for a common cause was a truly inspiring moment for our team.
Our Commitment, Just Getting Started
This donation is just the beginning of our commitment to the Hampton Roads area. We are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome you have shown us, and we are excited to continue embedding ourselves in this wonderful community.
When you shop with us, you’re doing more than just buying the world’s best work boots. You are supporting a business that is passionate about making a tangible, positive impact right where we live and work.
Thank you for helping us make this first initiative a huge success. We look forward to serving you and serving alongside you in the Hampton Roads community for many years to come.
